Site Preparation

Washougal School District Noxious Weed Maintenance

Objective
- Reduce and control populations of invasive and noxious weeds to support healthy native plant communities and prevent further spread
Methodology
- Conducted multiple herbicide applications during the growing season, with two targeted sprays in spring using aquatic-approved pesticides
- All herbicide treatments were applied using backpack sprayers by WSDA-certified pesticide applicators to ensure safe and effective control
- Performed manual pulling and bagging of seeding weeds in late July to prevent seed dispersal
- Focused control efforts on Tansy Ragwort and Poison Hemlock, both high-priority invasive species

Significantly reduced invasive weed coverage, minimized re-establishment risk, and improved overall site health and ecological balance.
